The ROBIOPSY partners have successfully completed REGOLUS, the prototype developed within the ROBIOPSY project and funded by the European Innovation Council through an EIC Transition grant.
REGOLUS is a semi-automatic, AI-enabled robotic platform designed to support prostate biopsy procedures by improving workflow consistency, reducing operator dependency and addressing key limitations related to ergonomics, manual workload and automation.
The prototype integrates three core technological components: robotic needle positioning, automated rotational ultrasound scanning and advanced planning software. By combining these elements into a single platform, REGOLUS aims to make prostate biopsy workflows more standardized, efficient and less dependent on manual operation.
The completion of the prototype represents an important milestone for the ROBIOPSY project, bringing the consortium one step closer to validating a new robotic approach for prostate biopsy and exploring its future clinical and commercial potential.
This achievement is the result of the collaborative work of the ROBIOPSY partners: ACMIT, Universitätsklinikum Freiburg, Università di Verona, Needleye Robotics and Day One.
Through REGOLUS, the ROBIOPSY project continues to advance its mission of translating research and technological innovation into a new generation of AI-enabled robotic solutions for healthcare.
